PTA Strict Advice To WhatsApp Users
The authorities claim that a number of users have complained about receiving dubious WhatsApp messages from both domestic and foreign numbers.
These messages, which mimic the official WhatsApp account, frequently contain the app’s logo along with a clickable URL link. This is done to trick users into believing the message is authentic.

According to a statement from the PTA, “the public is strongly advised not to click on any such links or respond to these messages.” The messages may make false claims that the recipient’s WhatsApp account will be canceled or require verification.

Broader Phishing Campaign
The regulator emphasized that these misleading communications are a part of a larger phishing campaign that aims to jeopardize the security of Pakistani mobile customers.
The public has been urged by the PTA to report similar events and to exercise caution. According to the statement, “it is best to ignore and delete any message that seems suspicious or overly alarming, especially one that demands immediate action with a link.”
WhatsApp Warns Users Against Scams and Unofficial Links
Additionally, the authorities cautioned users that authentic WhatsApp messages will never seek for private information or direct users to click on unapproved sites.
This warning coincides with a rise in cybercrime incidents that target the nation’s communication networks and growing worries about digital privacy.
Conclusion
PTA has clearly warned all WhatsApp users to stay alert and avoid clicking on suspicious links or responding to unknown messages. These fake messages can steal personal data or hack your account. Users are advised to delete such messages and never trust any link that demands urgent action. Staying cautious is the best way to stay safe from online scams.
