At the 2nd National Social Protection Conference, held at a local hotel, chairperson Rubina Khalid made a significant announcement. She shared details about an improved banking module for beneficiaries that will ensure the secure delivery of complete payments.

Senator Khalid has stated that the proposed banking initiative is intended to eliminate fraudulent activities, commissions, and unlawful deductions that have hindered the program in the past. She emphasized that this project will also enhance transparency in BISP operations and ensure that financial assistance is delivered directly to its intended beneficiaries without exploitation.

Benazir Income Support Programme 2025 – Latest Expansion

Thanks to the involvement of former Prime Minister Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, BISP, Pakistan’s leading initiative for social security and poverty reduction, was established in 2008.

It provides financial assistance to numerous low-income families across the country. At present, 9.4 million beneficiaries are receiving a quarterly amount of Rs. 13,500. This figure was recently increased in response to economic challenges and an increase in inflation.

The BISP team has expanded the number of beneficiaries for receiving 13500 Payments this year, from 9.3 Million to 10 Million, resulting in an increase of 700,000 registrations.

2nd National Social Protection Conference – Vision, Goals & Key Discussions

Representatives from various regions of Pakistan converged in Karachi for the three-day 2nd National Social Protection Conference with the common goal of enhancing the country’s social protection system. A significant outcome of the conference was the creation of the Inter-Provincial Social Protection Forum (ISPF), which strives to foster collaboration among provinces, streamline policies, and improve assistance for marginalized communities.

The objective of this undertaking is to enhance the system’s resilience and adaptability, especially in challenging situations brought about by environmental and economic factors.

The BISP recently announced a banking initiative aimed at tackling fraud and increasing transparency. This will ensure that financial assistance is received by the intended recipients and not misused.
